The Miniature Society of Cincinnati

Celebrate the joy of creating & collecting scale miniatures

NAME Day Projects

NAME Day is an annual tribute day to our parent organization, NAME (National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts). The concept is for NAME members around the world to work on the same project on the same day. Each year, NAME designs a new project and makes kits available in a choice of wood and scale.

NAME Day takes place on the first Saturday of October each year to kick-off International Dollhouse and Miniatures Month. MSC members gather to build the kits together, usually with lots of sharing, laughter, and food!

Below are samples of the kits released by year, and their corresponding project. Note: Click an image to enlarge it.

2024 – “Any Past Project”

This year was a catch-up for anyone who missed out on NAME Day kits in the past. One could order any of the older kits in any scale. Gallery under construction.

2023 – “Three-Sided Vignette”

This year’s project was a three-sided scene on a round base. It brought forth a lot of creativity. Gallery under construction.

2022 – “NAME 50th Anniversary Display Box”

In 2022, we celebrated NAME’s 50th Anniversary by making this elaborate display box. The box was made to fit in a standard frame, which could hang on the wall, or not. It had shelves and LED lights. Each month, all year long, NAME artisans offered unique kits to make and fill the box.

2021 – “TIKI BAR”

This year’s project was a detailed Hawaiian-style Tiki Bar. Thinking outside the box, some of us made Christmas or hot chocolate stands.

2011 – “WORKCENTER” (Kitchen Island)

This second kit, the Workcenter, had a butcher block top, lower cabinet and shelves at either end. It was just as complicated and difficult to put together as it looks!
